Olympic Sabre Fencing - A Sport for your Child

Developing Youth Sabre Fencers

Children were traditionally taught to use a sword from a young age. This is a tradition which we continue as a modern fencing club today and this brings all of the benefits of an athletic Olympic sport.

We have a squad of over 30 junior fencers that train regularly with us. Many of our young fencers develop their training and progress to take part in other regular training events and competitions. We support our new starters with all equipment and coaching.

Fencing training provides good aerobic and anaerobic exercise and conditioning.   It's also good for flexibility and coordination. Fencing is not only physically challenging it's a workout for the mind too. You need concentration and mental discipline to do well.

We run structured sessions for youth fencers with games, strength and conditioning exercises, footwork and individual and group fencing coaching.

Fencing is a fast, exciting and athletic sport like 'active chess' that keeps both body and mind fit.  There are many benefits from regularly practicing fencing.

Learning the skills of attacking and defending with the sabre helps develop good co-ordination, balance and flexibility which makes fencing training an ideal means of keeping fit for all ages and abilities.

We start youth fencers from Age 8 and have separate sessions to ensure that our groups are age and ability appropriate. We encourage both boys and girls to take up our sport.
